How to create draft reply with FrontApp API

We used the “Create Draft Reply” https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/post_conversations-conversation-id-draftsIn the API, it requires a channel_id which is only optional when we simply reply the conversation https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/post_conversations-conversation-id-messages Where should I get the channel_id? I want to make sure the channel_id is the same as the inbound message that I creating draft for. I looked through both the conversation and message entity, there is no channel_id.

Create functionality depending of values within attachment

It has been a bit of a painpoint for us for a long time that rules cannot be built to somehow react values which are within attachments (IF attachment contains {customer.id} THEN add tag {random tag} etc).It’s really often that the critical data is there, in that .xlsx or .pdf file and this situation come in almost hourly basis nowdays.And I mean, technically it should be possible since search in Front does also show values/results which are within attachments.Since building rules is not possible (yet, hopefully), I’d be happy to build this kind of functionality to our own plugin myself, if there would be a way to do it somehow. It seems that SDK doesn’t have this, so are there any other ways?

Set conversation custom field when importing message

Hi there,I’m using the import message API (https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/import-inbox-message) to create a conversation in front when a user takes an action on our website. I’ve done that so the message is from the user / a contact, and that the messages can be replied to by our team.When importing the message, is it possible to set a value for a custom field on the conversation that is created? Or will I need to change my workflow to create a conversation first, then import the message to that conversation? The use case wanting to assign the order ID the conversation relates to, to make it easier to find again via the API.Thanks!

How to tell if a sent message is a template from API?

Hello, Front displays “Message Templates” as a filter in Analytics, tracking messages that started as a template. How does Front discern these messages? Using the “Get Message” endpoint, we cannot find any data that differentiates a “normal” message from a template message.

Dynamic fields in signatures using CoreAPI to send messages

Hey 👋When using the Core API to create a new conversation, there is a possibility to add a "signature_id". However, when the signature incorporates dynamic variables such as {{user.name}}, it appears that it does not populate with the information of the author, whose id is specified in the author_id field.Is this expected behavior or could it potentially be a bug?

How is timezone handled when using a custom field with datetime type

We are looking to build some custom fields with datetime values. When we insert them as variables into a message are they timezone aware? The person asking me about this is creating a template and wants to insert a custom field of datetime and wants to know when the message based on the template is sent how will the datetime values show? Is there any way in Front to trigger a specific webhook for testing other than doing the action that triggers it? I am having a hard time getting the “Message delivery failed” webhook to trigger.

Hi,I noticed that while a user’s Front app is focused on our custom plugin, Front’s shortcuts won’t work.This is of course because they are hosted in an iframe. Similar examples of this kind of issue can be found in other platforms ie. https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/65452Dispatching an event from the child iframe across to the parent window is forbidden due to cross domain security issues.2 possible solutions are:Front provides offer a postMessage that we can send to forward events. The contextApi exposes a way to forward all / some of the events.There of course may be other good solutions!Please note that the few more popular Front plugins I tested (from large well known companies) suffered from the same issue. For instance `cmd+n` to compose a new message. Any workarounds?-David

Replying to conversation with email thread

Hey,When using the Reply to Conversation endpoint, I would like the email thread of the conversation to be added at the bottom of the message. This would provide a behavior similar to replying straight through the Front application.What would be the best way to achieve that? Thanks ✌️

How to fetch sender of a selected message with Context API?

For a plugin I developed, I want to prefill the email or telephone number (dependent on the message) of the sender of that message. I can’t find which method I need to use to fetch that info of the sender. Is there a way I can do this and, if so, which method do I use?Thanks in advance!

Contacts list API q parameter

I am attempting to query the contacts list api and including a parameter to only get contacts updated in the last 3 days. I understand how to construct the UNIX time stamp (I think.)My question is when I do the curl command below and update a single contact in our testing instance of Front I get back all contacts no matter the updated_at date. Get ID of existing draft

I’m developing a plugin with SDK, where I call external API to generate me a draft body and create or update a draft.If there is no existing draft, I can call context.createDraft to crate draft. This method doesn’t seem to work if a draft already exists. I see from documentation there’s updateDraft method, which requires draft ID.How can I get such ID, if the draft already exists in a conversation?

Create a new internal discussion draft?

From reading the documentation, it seems clear that the Context API can create new email drafts thought context.createDraft, I can get this to work in a very neat way. However, is this all that the Context API can do when it comes to creating new drafts?I see no info on creating a new internal discussion (https://explain.helloretail.com/xQuRABAe) or comment in a thread via the Context API. Which seems like something that should fit inside the scope of the current context? Instead I have found that the Core API does have the endpoint for creating comments and drafts (emails). However, I still can’t find any info of creating a new internal discussion draft? It also seems like a little bit of a workaround to use the Context API to create a new email draft, Core API to create a new comment. Did I get this right or have I missed something here? Is there a way to get message(s) currently selected by the user using the context API?

Hi, I’m currently working on a plugin that converts email messages to PDFs. To be able to do so, I need to know which messages are currently being selected by the user. However, there does not seem to be a way to list currently selected messages in Front’s context API, and to my knowledge we can only retrieve ALL of the messages inside a selected conversation using listMessages. I would really appreciate if someone could give me pointers on this. Thank you 😄.

You can now add channel types as features to Front apps. This makes it much easier to create new channel types, eliminating the need to submit a form and request channel credentials from Front. Instead, you can configure a server for your channel and obtain the App UID and App secret directly from your app settings. As part of this change, “partner channels” have been renamed to “application channels” to emphasize that you can now self-serve channels through the Front apps available on the Developers page in your Front settings. Teammate Transparency/Multiple companies using Teams

Hello. I am looking for suggestions, tried sales and sent a support ticket, but there is no reply. I would like to set up my clients as individual, siloed TEAMS. They would have full access to the other users on their team (all 50 users at a salon), 100 users on another team at an insurance company, and 5 people on another team at a dance studio for example. The idea is that the Salon would have about 50 people doing scheduling, having a shared inbox, individual google business emails etc. They could use Front, well, like Front. But, today, when I started to set them up, I noticed a user in 1 team can see ALL of the other members of every other team, this does not seem right to me. In fact, my client noticed it before I did and was like why do I see this person and that person, who are those people? I want to add them to MY account so I can get stuff pushed to me from them that I need to take care of, and they can share messages and chat with each other and me but NOT the insurance c

Where can I find detailed documentation for Front's SCIM server?

Hello, I’m setting up provisioning in JumpCloud, and I must enter SCIM details for Front manually. I’ve made an auto-provisioning token, but I still cannot connect to the SCIM server. My gut feeling is that the SCIM server has a different base URL than https://api2.frontapp.com, but I’m not sure because I can’t find any documentation. Thanks in advance for any help,Brodie

Hello all!I am finding that the plugin sdk does not allow for CRUD operations on front contacts. Is this correct? If this functionality is not available I am assuming I need to work with the core API.Is there a javascript library to work with the core api?
