Dynamic objects versus application webhooks v rule webhooks

I’m looking to implement a lookup to an external database where I'm basically fetching a row based on a query to bring data into a Front conversation. I’m wondering what the best solution would be between webhooks (application or rules) and dynamic objects.

Dynamic answers in Front Chat

Hello Front Community! Happy to be here - I had a question regarding the type of apps/plugins you can create using the developer platform. Long story short, our team has integrated Front’s new Chatbot builder: https://help.front.com/en/articles/2073I’m curious, if you are able to build an app that can dynamically answer based on the customer’s question/input? For instance, we would like to dynamically suggest help desk articles to the user based on their question - through an API my company already has working. Is this possible?

Hi, Front team.Our team is going to build an IM system for our customers and our employees.we’d like tosync Sendbird messages from our customers to Front sync message from our employee replies in front to Sendbird threadI saw you have rate limit policy, I want to know if this policy also applies to this api: https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/post_channels-channel-id-incoming-messages If so, as our business grows, we are going to break through the limit quickly. what can we do to resolve this problem. thanks.

How to retrieve an inbox email using the plugin SDK ?

My front plugin displays a select box with all the recipients of the currently selected conversation, and I would like to remove from this recipients list the one that are inboxes of the company. However, when I retrieve the inboxes of the company, I only get their names, and not their emails so I cannot exclude the inboxes from the select box. Is there any way to retrieve an inbox email when working in a plugin ?

How to make Font Webchat show the bubble through Front API?

Hi, I am using Front API to develop an automation. We have users currently use Front Chat. I am wondering whether there is a way to let Front Webchat should the bubble by the API? We noticed that when people start responding on Front GUI, there is a bubble on the chat. But can we do it if we are interacting through API? Cheers,

Is it possible to filter conversations by excluding tag ?

Hi,With the search endpoint of the Core API, it is possible to filter conversations with a specific tag :https://url/conversations/search/is%3Aarchived%20tag%3Atag_xxxxxBut I need to filter conversations that have not a specific tag.It is possible to compose a query. I tested “not”, “!” but it seems not to work.Thank for your help.RegardsBenwa

Where do Webhook URLs come from?

I’ve got an Inbox, with the Twilio-WhatsApp channel defined. In Twilio, I want to have it configured to call a webhook when a message arrives. The format of the webhook is https://webhook.frontapp.com/sms/<something>.  My question is: where does the URL come from?

Replying with email to a custom channel

Hi there, When sending a message to a custom channel via the API (https://api2.frontapp.com/channels/{channel_id}/incoming_messages), is it possible to set an email address that should be replied to for when a user in Front tries to reply? Or, is there a better way of sending messages to Front as if they were an email? My use case is a customer filling in a form on our website, which triggers sends a message to front (currently a custom channel) - our team will then action the request & reply to the message, which I'm expecting to be delivered via email to the initial customer.

Get Token from Plugin SDK

Building a plugin using the plugin SDK and now I need to use the Core API to create a comment on a ticket. Instead of handling API Tokens or going through the OAuth dance, is it possible to just get an appropriate token from the Plugin SDK to use for Core API requests?

Building a Front Application Webhook handler in Make.com

Sharing a quick snippet of how to build a Front Application Webhook handler in Make.com. This differs a little from handling a simple webhook call from a Front rule, as you need to perform a setup step and have your webhook respond to a challenge sent by Front’s webhook server. To start, head to Make.com and create a new Scenario with a Webhooks (Custom webhook) trigger. Click the Create a webhook button, and open up the advanced settings. Be sure to enable Get request headers; these are required in the next step. Hit Save. Creating a Webhook trigger in Make.com Next, we can add a Flow Control > Router step. We’ll use this to branch into two different paths, depending on whether this is the initial setup challenge webhook call, or receiving regular webhook updates.For our challenge path, we’ll configure a filter that looks like this:Make.com Router, filtering on request headersWhat this does is access the HTTP headers of the webhook request, and extracts the one header with the name

Logic to determine recipient list

Can you elaborate on the logic used to determine the recipient list (To, CC, BCC) of a new message in an existing conversation? Also, is there an API endpoint to retrieve this list of recipients?  Currently we are retrieving the last message in the conversation, but that does not always include everyone who has been involved in the conversation.

Get all contacts in conversation

We have a custom channel. In that channel there are conversations, threaded by a custom hash (all messages in the conversation have the same `thread_ref` in metadata). Typical conversation has 3 participants:a team member a user a bot, whose messages are imported using https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/post_channels-channel-id-incoming-messages I have a conversation ID, and based on that I need to get all conversation participants.https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/get-conversation-by-id -- get the teammate and one of the other participants (based on the most recent message) https://dev.frontapp.com/reference/get_conversations-conversation-id-followers -- only gets the team memberHow do I get all the participants?

Plugin sdk - region impact

We’ve developed a side bar web app using your plugin and is working well in an account hosted in EEA. We want to use the same app based on your plugin to be used in an account hosted in US and used in Canada. Is there any change we need to take care of? Will it work without any change?

Are API tokens and webhook secrets created at the org level or tied to a specific account? For example, if I leave the company and my Front account is deactivated, will the API tokens and secrets that I’ve created still be active and valid?

Help need with script that creates new List and appends contacts to it from a txt file

With help from AI, I have managed to create this python script with the intention to be able to import a txt file containing a list of email addresses and append those emails to a newly created group (list).  Here’s how it runs:The user is asked to input the name of the input file. e.g. test.txt.  The file contains a list of emails, one email per line The script lists the existing Groups in frontapp and asks the user for the name of the New Group. If the users picks an existing name, the user is asked to choose another name.  After the user chooses a name for the new group, the script runs a check to see if the emails exist in Frontapp.  If it doesn’t exist, it creates a new contact giving it the name “New Contact”.   The script should then append the existing and new contacts into the New GroupStep four is what I have a problem with.  The script does everything, but for some reason, it is failing to append any existing contacts to the New Group.  For new contacts however, it works fin

API List inbox conversations status deleted

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to use Front API to list deleted conversations from a specific inbox (to be more specific, conversations within inbox spam, which mean they were already deleted on Gmail when brought to Front). When I (manually) copy a conversation id from the inbox spam and use the Get Conversation endpoint, it does bring me the conversation and its status show “deleted”. However, when I use the List inbox conversations endpoint it does not bring me any deleted conversation, even when passing the query parameter (q=deleted) as suggested in Front documentation. I have tried the Search conversations endpoint as well, as suggested in this post, but still without success. Can anyone help me please? Also, both conversations moved to Trash in front and conversations which  were already deleted on Gmail when brought to Front (becoming Spam in Front) have the “deleted” status, is there no way to differentiate them? Thank you :)

Introducing composer plugins!Plugin Update

Developers can now build composer plugins! Previously, plugins could only be embedded within the right sidebar in Front, but it’s now possible for developers to build plugins that embed themselves in the composer instead, similar to how our existing integrations work with Google Drive or Dropbox.
