New user to Front and was wondering if anyone felt it more beneficial to archive in Microsoft Outlook before migrating over to Front?  Or doing it inside Front once setup?  Appreciate any suggestions!

Hi there,

Isaiah here from the Support team 👋

Thanks for reaching out! When you first connect your Outlook channel to Front, you’ll have the option to start fresh by archiving your emails. This means you can choose to automatically archive all emails received before a specified timeframe—whether that’s all emails, those from the past 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.

This feature can be especially beneficial for keeping your inbox organized and reducing clutter from past conversations that may no longer be relevant. By starting with a clean slate, you can focus on current and incoming messages, making it easier to manage your inbox.

While you do have the option of archiving emails prior to connecting the channel to Front, some may find it’s easier to start off on a clean slate depending on how large their inbox volume is.

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions!

I just moved my emails over from Outlook last week and found the archive feature in Front (as mentioned above) to be very easy and fast!

When i had to Migrate from Outlook to front having large amounts of emails was very time consuming.    So I would suggest archiving older emails,  and emails not needed before migration as this might save in the time it takes to switch from Outlook to Front.

One thing that we are considering is providing our staff with explicit instructions to: 1) Delete deleted items folder from Outlook; 2) Delete items in Sent folder from before a particular time period (i.e. 8 months); 3) Clean up sub-folders and folder heirarchies to remove old and unused subfolders and consolidate where possible, understanding that sub-folders will migrate to Front as personal tags.

I did not take these steps when I migrated, and am missing many emails as there is a $50k cap, and have had to do a lot of post-migration cleanup of personal tags.

I recently migrated my emails from Outlook to Front and found the archive option (as indicated above) to be incredibly simple and quick!
