Track action items with tasks
Forum|alt.badge.img

Stay organized and on top of action items with tasks. You can now create standalone tasks or linked tasks from conversations and assign them to yourself or teammates. For example, if a customer has a request that requires approval from a manager, you can create a linked task and assign it to a manager. Learn more.

It’s been a couple of months since releasing this feature but there still doesn’t seem to be a way to interact with tasks via rules, macros or the Core API, e.g. we’d like to create a task when a ticket status changes.

Where is this on the roadmap?

Thanks

Hi @rools

Completely agree with you that there is a discrepancy between what’s available in the UI and what’s in the API. There is a new initiative to close up those discrepancies across Front’s product surface areas, but it will take some time to implement.

Specifically for tasks, I will check in with that Product team to make sure they are aware of your request.

@rools I got tasks added to the list of missing API features. The API team is going to complete work this quarter to make it easy for other teams to contribute to our public API, after which point those teams can start adding in their new features or existing features like tasks that never made it into the API.

I’d love a keyboard shortcut to create new tasks so that I can do that quickly wherever I am in front. Perhaps Shift+T, since T brings up the tag menu.

Hey @timchambers — that’s a great idea. I suggest adding it to our Ideas portal so that other users can vote on it.

Hi @Javier - Developer Relations I did try that before I posted this comment, however I’m getting nothing but 422 errors whenever I try any interaction with the ideas portal (signing in, adding a new idea, etc.). Maybe someone needs to turn it off and on again?

Hey @timchambers, do you see any error messages associated with the 422s?

And do you get the same issues if you use the portal at https://front.ideas.aha.io/?

That URL works fine, so it must be a problem with the frame around this at the Front URL. The errors are all in the console, happening with the API requests behind the scenes. It manifests as clicking on buttons like Log In or Add Idea and nothing happening.

Thanks for letting me know, Tim. I’ll investigate with the vendor. For now, it seems the workaround is to use the https://front.ideas.aha.io/ URL instead.
