Would it be possible to have the user preference to show or hide the reading pane area in the inbox? It’s come up a few times with some of our employees.

Hi @kmitch! Can you explain what your use case is? Why would something like this be helpful? I assume by “reading pane” you’re referring to where the body of the message actually shows up, but correct me if I’m wrong.

@conniechen We have a lot of holdovers from Outlook that have taken the move to Front very hard. It’s an option to hide/view the reading pane in Outlook and it’s been an ask for better focus. Or at least to have the option to better focus without getting caught up in opening a message. It’s definitely not a necessity, but it is a big ask. :)

Hi @kmitch, there isn’t a way to hide the Conversation Pane. You can, however, hide the sidebar and choose between Default or Compact views of the Conversation List. Please see section on Conversation List Density: https://help.front.com/en/articles/2033#overview

@kmitch that’s interesting! In this view, are they simply reading through the conversation list? Are they taking any actions? Agree with @jen_lai’s comment that compact mode might be a better fit for them as it allows a wider conversation list view than the default mode.
