I much prefer this way it is cleaner, and I think a better layout. Less clicks to get to apps.

@conniechen have been using the collapsed sidebar view in the Beta (which is my preferred use), and wanted to pass on some feedback on the UI. When you hover over the sidebar icons (inbox, calendar, etc), it displays the expanded sidebar for quick action use (which is great). I think the tolerance on this may not be optimized however, as often the temporary expanded sidebar will re-collapse when I am attempting to interact with it.

I am not sure if this is random, but I have noticed that the behavior appears to vary between whether I am in the main “open” inbox, a search result, a shared inbox etc. Almost as if the tolerance for the cursor to move above the word “Open” is inconsistent between each use case.

Let me know if you are not able to replicate and I can send a screen recording

@anthonyv I think I know what you are talking about and it should be fixed, but if you have a second a screen recording would be very helpful! Thanks

@conniechen
Still not fixed on my side.

Here is a screen recording which demonstrates the issue as I see it.

@conniechen just one comment - the icon on the left side is ‘Help Center’ and the icon on the right column is ‘Knowledge Base’. All references elsewhere seem to be to the ‘Knowledge Base’. Is there a reason why in the new navigation it is ‘Help Center’?

@Margaret they’re slightly different. “Help center” is what we’re calling a collection of self-service related features now (see this article) and knowledge base is one of them. Knowledge base on the right app switcher is specifically referring to the knowledge base.

@anthonyv Thanks for the recording and keen eye for UX. This should be fixed with an upcoming deployment, engineers are on it.

@conniechen FYI this seems to have been largely resolved now with the latest release (noting separate feedback already passed on around not having it expand with the Search and New option selections)
