Is anyone working on creating an MCP server for FrontApp?

It appears like Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the protocol that everyone is moving towards as it puts the burden of keeping everything “tidy” on the service provider rather than the client.  There are already many official MCP servers available and more on the way. There are also community developed ones.

Is anyone else exploring this?

Cheers!

Hi @usespeak! Thanks so much for your feedback on MCP, we are closely watching feedback like this and market trends.

However, today I actually wanted to reach out to see if you have seen our Topics feature? Here is a HC Article that walks through this in detail but in short when you enable this feature and add shared inboxes Front will take in historical messages and generate a list of Topics from the messages in those inboxes. Then with these Topics you are able to create advanced workflows so you not only can identify key trends and insights with the Topics dashboard, but take automated actions using them!

This feature also works on a continuous basis so we are creating new Topics for you over time based on recent messages you receive. Just wanted to share that since it very closely aligns with the use case you mentioned using MCP and Claude.

Feel free to reach out with any further questions you have, thanks so much for your time and dedication to improving Front!

@Javier - Developer Relations please, I beg you, launch an official MCP server for Front. My team asks about it everyday. We want to be able to analyze specific inboxes for trends and to speed up the QBR process for every account we work with. It would be *hugely* helpful.

@JHTScherck Understood. I’ve been advocating for this internally. The Engineering team is currently doing work to release an MCP client and an MCP server. It would be helpful to understand:

  • Have you tried analyzing your inboxes with Front’s Copilot? Where does this fall short?
  • What resources would be most helpful to you for the MCP server to expose?

@Javier - Developer Relations thanks for the quick reply! Glad to hear the team is working on this!!

  • We tried Front’s internal AI early on. It did not seem to be a SOTA model, and was a bit buggy. We run on Claude as a company and leverage MCPs heavily. We want to be able to pull info from our entire Stack in one interface vs using Front’s own AI e.g. Notion, Slack, ClickUp, Google Workspace - and not just Front.
  • In terms of most helpful resources - we would want to analyze things that the inbox level. We want to query all emails/comments for a specific inbox so we can analyze client asks, past convos, slow response times, etc. So we would want both the ability to pull data for conversations (internal and external), and the metrics surrounding those conversations.
    • Here’s an example - we send monthly reporting via email - i would love to use an MCP server to help me generate trend analysis for reporting over all reports we’ve sent over the last 12 months for a client.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just wanted to +1 this. Would love to have an official Front MCP. The use case for us would be to be able to investigate stickier CS issues. We already have MCPs for our internal database, so I would love to be able to drop a conversation ID into Claude and have it pull the conversation details and then go and investigate the user account across our other services. Would save a lot of manual investigation work for tricky user cases.

@tdikun Thanks for sharing this! I have relayed it to our Product and Engineering teams. Work continues on MCP options as we speak.
