Auto Replies from From Distribution List

Good question, and the short version is: this isn't a rule you're missing, it's a platform limitation. Front checks email headers to detect when a message was generated automatically rather than by a person, mainly so an auto-reply doesn't end up looping with another auto-responder. Mail sent via a distribution list or Google Group carries those bulk-mail headers, so Front suppresses the auto-reply even when your rule conditions are otherwise met. There's no setting inside the rule builder that overrides this.

The workaround that actually resolves it: connect the distribution list itself as the channel, rather than forwarding DL mail into a shared inbox as a second step. When Front receives mail directly at the list's own address as its channel, rather than as a copy fanned out to each member, it doesn't carry the bulk-list headers, so your auto-reply rules apply as normal. One step matters once that's set up: remove your teammates from the distribution list in Exchange (Part 4 in the guide) so mail lands only in the Front shared inbox, not in each person's individual inbox as well.

If this is a Google Group rather than Exchange, the same header issue applies. Worth checking with your Workspace admin whether it can be set up as a shared, delegated mailbox rather than a pure distribution list, since that generally avoids the bulk-mail markers.
