Is it possible to separate comments, whether from an original comments or from two merged conversations?

Hi there! It’s not possible to differentiate comments from their original source if a conversation has been merged.

Would you be able to share a bit more info on your workflow here? Happy to explore possible workarounds once I have a bit more context.

That’s correct. I have submitted a developer request to consider this challenge.

In our instance, we deal with multiple emails regarding the same topic or subject but come in at different times, with different subjects, etc.. We have experienced accidental merges to different conversations that have extensive commenting. This poses a challenge after separating the accidentally merged emails since the comments do not transfer over with the original email they were attached to.

Mahalo,

Daniel

Wait a minute!  You separate merged emails?  How is this possible?

Yes, I’d like to know how to separate merged emails. That could be quite handy.

@daniel_ortega_ngl Wondering if you have a response to Harry and Blake’s questions?

@blakeman / @harry

We accomplish this by selecting the three dotted menu in the upper right corner of the email we are trying to separate - labeled “Move to a new conversation”.

This will separate the email from the existing thread. If there are multiple emails that were accidentally merged, you would do the “Move to a new conversation” process for each email. Afterwards, you can group the newly separated emails together and then rename, if necessary.

The only issue is that the comments from the accidentally merged email will stay on the merged email thread and do not transfer.

This is a game changer and thanks so much!  Now we are with you on can the comments go over as well.
