I’ve added a custom Account field. But it has no value. How do I actually set the value? I can’t find this anywhere, and the documentation says nothing about it.

I was under the impression a custom field for the Account itself allows you to set a global field value that can be added into signatures, for example.

Hi there! Custom Account fields are typically imported, as outlined here: https://help.front.com/en/articles/2322#prepare_your_csv_file

Custom Account Fields, once entered in to Front, can then be used for rules, message templates, and signatures!

Is there a particular reason the Account custom fields don’t just have a place in the settings to edit them easily, like all other custom fields?

Are you referring to adding Custom Account fields individually to accounts?

Or instead are you wanting to create Custom Account fields without an import, as outlined here: https://help.front.com/en/articles/2056#instructions

I hope this helps answer your question! If not, please reach out to our Support Team to assist further!

Yes I am referring to creating Custom Account fields without an import. I have already seen that Front article about it, and nowhere does it explain how one is able to set the value of the custom field without an import.

It is possible to add custom fields at a Teammate level, whereby the Teammate’s settings have editable fields to set the value of those custom fields for their profile.

The actual scenario I want to solve is having fields like our main office phone numbers, which can be added as a single custom field that is usable by all Teammates in their signatures.

It would depend on the type of custom field. If it’s an Account custom field you can add the value when viewing the Account in the Contacts/Account manager.

For Teammate custom fields you’d go to the Teammates Tab under your Company/Workspace settings. There you just need to click on a specific Teammate and then click on the Tab Custom fields.

This Help Center article has more information on the types of custom fields that can be created, as well as links to other documentation that gives insight on how to both create and set these fields depending on the object type (Teammate, Conversation, Account, etc.).
