Welcome back and happy new year! I hope 2026 brings you and your loved ones abundant health and happiness.

My team is currently mapping out our upcoming priorities for the core inbox experience. I want to bring you into the process early to ensure what we’re building aligns with your actual daily workflows.

Note: This isn't a firm commitment or a full company roadmap, but a look at what’s top of mind for my team. Most of these items are pulled from past submitted feature requests, as well as the survey I shared a few weeks ago.

Theme 1: Core quality of life improvements

Removing daily frictions to make you more productive

  1. Improving table formatting
  2. Message templates contain to/cc/bcc
  3. Option to view subject in the conversation thread
  4. Option for comments to not cancel snooze
  5. Ability to determine the order of tags in the conversation list and main panel

Theme 2: Updated mobile experience

Bring more power and efficiency to the mobile experience

  1. UI parity: A consistent look and feel with the desktop app
  2. Mobile tasks and linking: Create and manage linked tasks and conversations
  3. Improved efficiency: Clickable phone numbers and customizable swipes on messages

(If you are a heavy mobile user, let me know. Would love to better understand your needs on a short call!)

Theme 3: Building out tasks

Track and measure tasks for more granular accountability and ownership

  1. Deadlines: Due dates for tasks to prevent things from falling through the cracks
  2. Automation: Create tasks automatically via rules; set up repeatable task templates.

Theme 4: Search improvements

  1. Better keyword matching in search results
  2. Save searches as views for quick access

💡 Feedback I’m looking for:

  • If you could pick 2-3 items to be delivered in the next couple months, which would they be and why?
  • What’s missing that would outrank the items in this list?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Theme 3: Task Building would extremely helpful for our group. Specifically due dates and automation.

Out of this list, I would say Theme 4 would be top on my list. However, the thing that would outrank any of these would be the contrast improvements I mentioned

I would add to theme 1

1. Improved / more flexible linking between messages / conversations.

At the moment linking relies on a message linking to an initial conversation, and then you can create new threads from the linked conversation.

However, we often receive several emails from Clients that are all related - ideally we could link all of these messages together.

At the moment we do this by adding the messages as comments, but this is not as effective as a more flexible linking option.

2. creating a side panel for the conversation details (similar to the contacts panel); this should show all the details that are currently available in the message details call out box (this isn’t used much by teams as it’s hard to find, moving it to the side panel will drive more uptake, this may have implications for uptake of linking / tasks etc as well)

I would prioritize the below:

  1. Theme 4
  2. Theme 1.1
  3. Theme 3

I find the search function quite “clunky” - needing to read through multiple conversations to find the one you’re looking for - particularly when it comes to a long-term projects.

Then, improved table formatting so you can copy / past from excel and then format properly so it looks professional in your emails, particularly when you’re sending something out to customers.

And lastly being able to create task deadlines would be a fantastic improvement so it pops back into your mailbox the same way that snoozed emailed do, this would mean you could create tasks without specifically needing to link them to a conversation.

Theme 1 - specifically being able to see/change the subject in the thread and also comments not cancelling snooze. I just think these would help our efficiency and make for smoother processes.

Theme 4. I do find the search function fairly limited. Especially searching for a keyword in the body of a message. I can use a keyword, that I know I have included in an email within the previous week and it still won’t find the message for me, so I end up manually searching back through received/sent messages.

@conniechen
For me the 2 big items would be:

  • Updated Mobile Experience (desperately needed)
  • Improved Search

Not sure if tied to the mobile app, but updated iPad app at same time to give parity of usage with Desktop would be appreciated

For us Theme 4: Search improvements should be a top priority as search feature isn’t performing well and there is an important gap with Gmail for instance

Happy New Year! Appreciate you looping us in!

From the list provided:

Theme 4 – Search improvements

  • Saved searches as views would be a major win for repeat workflows and role-based triage

Theme 2 – Updated mobile experience
I’ll be candid here: I recently uninstalled the Front mobile app due to the lack of administrator-level functionality.

My team and I are both administrators and users of Front. At a minimum, the ability to add/remove users from inboxes or workspaces and enable or disable rules on mobile would be extremely beneficial. Right now, the mobile experience doesn’t support how we actually operate.

If it’s helpful, I’d be happy to jump on a short call to walk through our admin workflows and where mobile currently falls short.

What’s Missing (and Would Outrank Everything Above for us)
An @mentions folder

This is a significant gap in how we collaborate in Front and forces unnecessary workarounds. Mentions are central to how we work, and having no clean way to track them creates friction every day. If this were added to the roadmap, it would immediately outrank everything else listed for us.

One Addition to Theme 1

Rule-based snoozing should absolutely live under Theme 1. This would eliminate a lot of manual inbox management and reduce cognitive load for the team.

Lower Priority for Our Team

For us, Theme 1 and Theme 3 would be prioritized last, in that order, compared to search and mobile improvements.

Theme 4: Search improvements
I search often and the limitations of the magnifying class to by default only search my inbox instead of my sidebar feel limiting.

Theme 1: Core quality of life improvements
These are all elements that my team would want the most but the priority would be:

  1. Ability to determine the order of tags in the conversation list and main panel
  2. Option for comments to not cancel snooze
  3. Option to view subject in the conversation thread
  4. Message templates contain to/cc/bcc
  5. Improving table formatting

Very few use front mobile so Theme 2: Updated mobile experience has a very low priority for us.
Theme 3: Building out tasks has slightly more use but not enough to have measured feedback on improving it.

This is awesome! For us, the top 2 improvements would be:

Theme 2 - Not mentioned, but Macros on mobile would be a huge benefit for us. Our Front flow is Macro heavy and lack of macros in the mobile app prevents our teams from using it. Being able to work without being in front (pun unintended) of a computer would be extremely helpful.

Theme 4 - Improved search is definitely needed. Our users switch back into Gmail when they need to search because they find Front has too many unrelated results and is too hard to traverse. For example; search terms appearing in a subject line should take precedent in search results over search terms that appear in attachments.

I’d probably go:

  1. Message templates contain to/cc/bcc
  2. Ability to determine the order of tags in the conversation list and main panel
  3. Option to view subject in the conversation thread

Hey Connie,

That’s a great list of items! Here are the ones that would add the most value for my teams.

  1. Message templates contain to/cc/bcc
  2. Option for comments to not cancel snooze
  3. UI parity: A consistent look and feel with the desktop app

As far as reasons for picking those…

  1. This has been a long requested option. In many cases we send templates to the same addresses over and over and for rules it would be nice to have the option as well.
  2. This too has been a long requested option. People want the ability to view the comment but not cancel the snooze. In this case users would still expect to have the options to “Archive” until the snooze triggers. Not sure of the wording since it’s not a true Archive.
  3. This is a rather large pain point for our management staff in particular. Having more UI and feature parity is very important for employees that are on the go a lot.

Regarding something that’s not on the list I would say a dedicated Admin app. Right now using the website on a mobile device is pretty difficult. I don’t think all the admin features need to be baked into the main app, but a separate Admin app to manage basic settings would be so helpful. If that isn’t feasible a more mobile optimized admin site would help a lot.
