Why cant i create a new conversation?

I’d like to have claude draft emails for me that i can then review in front and send. But it seems the mcp server doesn’t allow creating new conversations, even though your api does. It’s also explicitly called out as an unsupported feature in your docs.

 

Why… 

 

This feels like a table stakes feature. And the lack of it significantly reduces the surface area of useful tasks an agent can perform with this server.

Hi everyone,

You can now create a draft for a new conversation. Note that you will have to enable channels:read in your developer app permissions so that the MCP server can list your channels to allow you to pick one to use.


 

We will be working on a few related improvements as well:

  • The ability to send draft messages
  • The ability to send messages without first creating a draft
  • The ability to update and delete existing drafts

      super surprised that this doesn’t work out of the box. regret that I deleted the previous Front plugin since now ppl might be expecting to draft emails with the new connector and will be shocked like I was that it’s not supported. hope this gets fixed ASAP!

        Thanks Javier - this was a feature we needed! We’re still having trouble creating drafts for new conversations in Claude. I refreshed the tools list on the custom connecter (in claude). I also quit and relaunched claude. And also tried again from a fresh claude chat. Perhaps the update is still propagating or Claude hasn’t picked up the change yet.

        My next step was to remove the connector and re-add it, but wanted to avoid that if possible.

          Confirmed - this works now, thanks Javier! I’m now able to create a draft for a new conversation using the Front MCP through Claude.
